Krups high-speed quartz heating system takes masterful control of heat in the chamber. Each set of quartz heating element, both top and bottom, is alternately powered at the full 1600 watts to maximize the effect of radiant heat. The heat distribution is aided by a special reflective crumb tray that directs this important form of heat to all corners for excellent results. Convection heat, important for longer baking times, circulates heated air around the food for the best result in the fastest time. The defrost function uses the convection fan only and gently and evenly defrosts food without producing hot spots. This 6-slice toaster oven with 6 preset cooking functions- Pastry, Bagels, Brownies, Cookies, Thick Pizza, Thin Pizza has temperature controls in 25 degree increments from 150-450 degrees, a digital timer from 1 minute to 90 minutes and an auto shut off after elapsed time. For toasting, it has 9 levels or browning with a countdown timer. Illuminated LCD control panel with easy to use controls and high quality soft touch buttons, it has a digital clock that displays when the cooking functions are not in use. The non-stick interior surface is durable and easy to clean. This unit includes a non-stick bake pan, broiling tray and thermal resistant tongs for safe removal of hot pans or food and comes with a 1-year warranty……..

Krups FBC4-13 6-Slice Convection Digital Toaster Oven with Preset Cooking Functions
I spent a lot of time researching between a Krups FBC4- 13 toaster oven and a Cuisinart TOB-195. Had an old Cuisinart and it was lousy at toasting and pretty much anything else. I read the reviews on Amazon, in Consumer Reports and America’s Test Kitchen. The Krups oven was about $100 more than the Cuisinart but I decided to go for the Krups. What a mistake. Got it out of the box; read the directions and pre-heated it to 450 for 15 minutes as indicated. It heated up, the timer counted down to 14 minutes then when I looked up a minute later it stopped working. No heat, no light, nothing. Checked the circuit breaker and the outlet was OK. My husband was sure it could be reset (nothing about troubleshooting or reset button in the direction booklet) so I called the 800# for customer service. The only advise they offered was repack it and send it out to be repaired (2 - 4 wk. turn around time) or return to Amazon for a refund or exchange.
We’re going for the Cuisinart.

I’ve lost track of the toaster ovens we’ve bought over the years. The last one we bought (Ovenmaster, I think) lasted all of a month, not because it broke, but because everyone in our family had so much trouble using it. It seems that over the last few years, toaster ovens have gotten cheaper, first in price, but also in quality.
Not true for this Krups toaster oven. it was a bit pricey, but the quality and ease of use is first rate. I and my family srongly recommends it to everyone.

I have been using this oven for about 6 months. I got it because I had a quartz element toaster (only) in the past and liked how efficiently it worked. The problem with the KRUPS is that the elements alternate heating in the TOASTER Mode. The top elements will heat for a while and then shut down as the bottom elelents are heating up. This lengthens toasting time considerably becuase the elements are on about half of the cooking time. What is up with that?

There have been many reviews about this product already and there is not much to add except one very important point. The fan will break and will render the “convection” properties of this oven useless. Sure, you will be able to toast and bake till your heart’s content and this is an otherwise strong and sturdy unit, yet, even after sending back two units back to KRUPS, alas, the fan is broken again. I suspect the reason why the fan breaks is because the oven gets very hot and this either cooks the computer chips, the wires, or the lubricant that keeps the fan turning. Whatever reason, the fan is poorly engineered. Others have also stated having issues with the door hinges. I concur. Hopefully KRUPS will solve these issues in future models.

The toast button started failing after 1.5 years and after 20 months failed completely. For the price of this oven, 2 years is a very short life.
